In this material world there is always a
tendency for that which is pure to
become polluted and distorted over a
period of time especially in this age of
Kali. This happens also in the society
of devotees. For example Srila
Prabhupada explains that while Lord
Jesus started his movement to put a stop
to animal slaughter, his so-called
followers are now engaged in the daily
mass murder of millions of innocent
animals in the slaughter houses. In this
connection Srila Prabhupada states:
"The main business of human society is
to think of the Supreme Personality of
Godhead at all times, to become His
devotees, to worship the Supreme Lord
and to bow down before Him. The acharya,
the authorized representative of the
Supreme Lord, establishes these
principles, but when he disappears,
things once again become disordered. The
perfect disciples of the acarya try to
relieve the situation by sincerely
following the instructions of the
spiritual master." --from purport to
Srimad Bhagavatam 4.28.28 Now
that our beloved Founder-Acharya: His
Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta has
departed from this world we must be very
careful to avoid the tendency to become
slack in following his instructions. It
is sometimes said, "When the cat is
away, the mice will play." With love we
must carefully and strictly adhere to
the wonderful liberating instructions of
Srila Prabhupada. For example, while
Srila Prabhupada clearly instructed us
hundreds of times, "No illicit sex",
there is now an attempt to change this
principle to "No sex outside of
marriage." Such things will spoil our
movement relegating us eventually to
being another bogus so-called religious
organization that does not teach pure
bhakti.
